Medical Education

The Department of Pharmacology offers one course, Medical Pharmacology (MedEd 517), that is designed to give second-year medical students a basic understanding of drugs and their use in the prevention and treatment of disease. The course covers all classes of drugs used clinically, as well as drugs having abuse potential. Emphasis is placed on mechanisms of action, clinical use and side effects of drugs.

This course prepares medical students for the pharmacology portions of their standardized examinations and provides understanding of how drugs are used in actual clinical practice.
